An experienced local chef is cooking up something new.
Chico Cantina is planned for Brookhaven at 705 Town Boulevard. The Mexican-American concept comes from Chef Mimmo Alboumeh. It will be the sister concept to another one of Alboumeh’s restaurants, Botica.
Chico Cantina is expected to serve lunch and dinner, as well as brunch on weekends. The restaurant is going into the space formerly occupied by Red Pepper Taqueria, which closed in December 2024. The space is located at Town Brookhaven, a mixed-use development off Peachtree Road. Other tenants at the development include 26 Thai Sushi & Bar, HOBNOB Neighborhood Tavern, Flying Biscuit Café, Costa Coffee and more.
With decades of experience in the culinary world, Alboumeh has operated several other local establishments over the years, including Red Pepper Taqueria. He was born in Lebanon and grew up in Spain and Italy before moving to Georgia.
Botica opened in 2021, offering chef-driven cuisine inspired by the flavors of Spain and Mexico as well as Alboumeh’s Mediterranean heritage. The menu includes tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, burgers and a wide range of appetizers, like empanadas, oysters and halibut ceviche. The restaurant also serves brunch on weekends.
Chico Cantina LLC was first created in November 2024, according to a filing with the Georgia Secretary of State’s office.
The Chico Cantina team is hiring hosts, servers, managers, bartenders and food runners for the upcoming restaurant. It is expected to open this spring.
