L.L. Bean is planning its entry into Georgia. It will open next year in the forthcoming mixed-use development Lulah Hills, which is taking shape at the former North DeKalb Mall in Decatur, according to an announcement from real estate company EDENS.
The outdoor lifestyle brand will open in a 15,000-square-foot building at Lulah Avenue and Oak Tree Road. The first wave of retail tenants will begin to open at Lulah Hills in 2027. Residential elements, including Crescent Communities’ Novel Lulah Hills, which will feature 303 apartments, and Empire Communities, which will feature 92 townhomes, will be completed later in 2027.
L.L. Bean launched in the 1910s in Freeport, Maine, and now has 65 locations. It features products such as outdoor apparel and footwear.
“We’re always focused on bringing together brands that complement one another and create places where people genuinely want to spend their time. All new deals start with a conversation about what will make a community even stronger.” Natalie Abt, senior director of leasing at EDENS, said in the announcement. “We’re grateful for the trust L.L.Bean has placed in us, and we’re excited to welcome retailers who share our commitment to creating vibrant, engaging destinations.”
EDENS previously announced that Publix, Anthropologie, Design Within Reach, Herman Miller, [solidcore], Les Mains Nail Bar, Firepit Pizza Tavern and Honeysuckle Gelato would join the development. In addition, Refuge Coffee is expected to open soon at North Druid Hills Road and Mistletoe Road, and existing tenants AMC Theaters and Marshalls are nearing completion on planned renovations.
