The Austin-based wings chain Plucker’s will soon begin construction on a new location in south Austin, according to public records. The restaurant will be built at 9600 S I-35 Frontage Rd Building A, within the Southpark Meadows shopping center.
Plucker’s most prominently offers wings with a vast array of rubs and sauces along with burgers, hot dogs, salads, and southern-inspired desserts such as fried twinkies and fried oreo’s. Founded in Austin’s West Campus neighborhood by three friends and UT students, Mark, Dave, and Sean, Plucker’s opened its first restaurant in 1995 and now boasts locations in the major Texas hubs of DFW, San Antonio, and Houston, along with stores in Killeen, San Marcos, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
What Now Austin briefly contacted Mark Greenberg, co-owner and co-founder of the growing chain, to inquire about the upcoming development, but he found himself busy with meetings and was not able to comment by time of publication.
However, a few notable details listed in the public records illuminate key information. First, the estimated cost is about $2,000,000 and covers a space of 9,049 square feet, suggesting the facilities will be impressive and incredibly spacious.
The records also list an estimated completion date of March 2024, suggesting that eager readers may have to wait around a year for the newest Plucker’s to open.
Until this exciting new development opens, readers can find seven Plucker’s locations in the Austin metro area.
