The popular Texas burger chain Whataburger plans to begin constructing a location in Uhland, according to public records. The restaurant will be located at 8920 Camino Real.

The public filing states that construction is estimated to begin in January 2025 and stretch until June. The location is estimated to take up 3300 square feet and cost around $600,000 to build.

Famous for its customizable burgers, chicken tenders, milkshakes, and breakfast options, Whataburger is a staple of Texas food culture. Describing their values and brand identity on the company website Whataburger states “Serving it hot and fresh, 24/7. Treating our customers right. Being proud of everything we do. And never forgetting where we started. Whataburger is more than a burger chain. It is a place that feels like home to more than 50,000 employees, called Family Members, and millions of customers. It’s a brand built on pride, care, and love. It’s a place people count on in their communities.”

What Now Austin briefly spoke to Greg Deters, franchise owner, to inquire about further information about the location.

“It’ll be an in-line location, set inside of a gas station,” Mr. Deters tells What Now Austin. “It’ll be similar to the Austin Airport parking lot spot.”

When asked why Uhland was chosen, Mr. Deters points to the area’s significant projected growth.

“It’s a growing suburb of Austin right of 21. The demographics show it’ll grow 10x to 20x in the next decade,” he says.

So when will the classic Texan burger joint open?

“Early 2nd quarter of 2025,” Mr. Deters says.
