Austin’s Blue Agave Tex Mex has closed after 10 months in business. The woman-owned restaurant shared the closure announcement on social media and hinted at financial challenges as the reason for the closure.

Blue Agave Shuts Down After a Short Run

Blue Agave Tex Mex was well known for its elevated and authentic Tex-Mex comfort food menu. The restaurant was a neighborhood favorite for its bold Texan flavors, 100% scratch-made dishes, and relaxed dining atmosphere. It also featured handcrafted creative cocktails and traditional margaritas, with signature variations like mango, berry, and pear.

In an Instagram post, the team behind the restaurant shared the closure news and wrote, “This is a particularly sad day for us as we are closing our doors for good.”

Located at 14900 Avery Ranch Blvd B100 in Austin, Blue Agave, owned by Tasha Miller, served its last meal on October 8.

The team thanked the community and customers for their support. “Your kind words, feedback, and support created such an amazing place for us to call home,” said the team.

What Led to the Closure

In the closure announcement post, the restaurant team explained that despite their best efforts, “we have had to make the difficult decision to stop operations of our restaurant.”

According to the Chron report, the restaurant opened its doors in The Plaza at Avery Ranch only 10 months ago.

In the post, the team encouraged the community to support local small businesses. They noted, “We are all in jeopardy right now. We are all navigating increased expenses that make it difficult to operate, especially restaurants that already operate on some of the smallest profit margins of any business.”

The team also said it planned to donate its remaining food and asked the community to recommend a local organization to receive it. They wrote, “If anyone has a local one in mind, would you please share it with us so that we can take what we have and use it to give back.”
