A vacant lot in the Austin suburb is seeing development this year.
A new Speedy Mart location is to be built at 964 N Bagdad Road in Leander, per a recent state permit filing. This is already a chain in the Austin area that is seeking expansion this year. Owner Rajendra Ghandi told What Now Austin he does not yet have an opening date, but construction is underway.
Speedy Mart also operates in the Anderson Mill area of Austin. It is a typical convenience store, selling sodas, beer, wine, snacks, energy drinks and everyday accessories. Many of the same options will be available at the Leander location.
The site for the new mart is on the east side of Bagdad Road, in a mostly residential area of the city. This is just south of Benbrook Ranch Park. Downtown Leander is just southeast of the location.
From the recent permit filing, commercial interior work still needs to be done, and the space is going to be around 5,000 square feet. As construction progresses, Ghandi and the team will be updating the community with more information.
