A local chain known for its authentic Mexican street food could be headed to Quincy.

Chilacates looks to be moving into the former E String Violin Shop at 1358 Hancock St in the downtown area, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. A Google Business page for the location further supports this news. If plans move forward, this would mark the chain’s first outpost in Quincy and thirteenth in Greater Boston.

Founded in 2015 by Socrates Abreu, Chilacates is a family-owned and operated eatery that has cultivated a loyal following across the city. The chain currently boasts two locations in Jamaica Plain, plus additional outposts in Boston’s West End, the South End, Mission Hill, Roslindale, South Boston, Brighton, Brookline’s Coolidge Corner, Cambridge’s Central Square, East Cambridge, and Chestnut Hill.

The menu highlights traditional street food staples—tacos, taco salads, burritos, burrito bowls, quesadillas, enchiladas, flautas, nachos, tortas, and tostadas—alongside brunch offerings, house-made desserts, and classic Mexican drinks like horchata.

Representatives from Chilacates did not respond to requests for comment from What Now Boston at the time of publication. Stay tuned for official confirmation and opening details.
