A popular Boston consignment shop known for its carefully curated mix of everyday fashion and luxury designer finds is getting ready to cross the river.

Covet is opening its first location outside of Boston Proper at 1308 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge’s Harvard Square, taking over the former Gnomon Copy & Print space next door to J.P. Licks. “After 13 years, Covet is finally leaving Boston,” the business shared in a social media announcement. “Covet Harvard Square. Coming this winter…”

Founder and CEO Hanadi Hamzeh confirmed the news with What Now Boston, noting that construction has just begun at the new space. “After 13 years growing in Boston, we’re so excited to bring Covet to Cambridge!” she said. “It may just be across the river, but opening in Harvard Square feels like a new chapter for our team, and we can’t wait to be part of this vibrant neighborhood.”

A Massachusetts native and first-generation Palestinian American, Hamzeh launched Covet in 2013, turning her eBay side hustle into a brick-and-mortar shop in South Boston. The business has since grown to four locations across Boston, including boutiques in the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and the South End. Along the way, Covet has earned plenty of accolades, including Boston Magazine’s 2026 Best of Boston award for Best Everyday Essentials.

The concept offers a polished alternative to the traditional thrift-store experience, with bright, contemporary interiors and merchandise neatly organized by color, size, and style. Covet embraces a “high-low” fashion philosophy, mixing accessible everyday labels with luxury designer pieces so shoppers can find anything from casual wardrobe staples to high-end accessories under one roof.

“At Covet, our inspiration comes from creating a curated yet accessible shopping experience,” the brand explains on its website. “We believe in offering something for everyone, with items at every price point. The modern woman mixes high and low, and so do we!”

Covet accepts freshly cleaned, in-season clothing, shoes, and accessories in excellent condition, selecting items based on condition, style, brand, season, and store capacity. Consignors can walk in with up to 25 items Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and must pick up any unaccepted items by the end of the day. When an item sells, consignors receive 40% of the selling price, with higher commission rates for luxury items.

The shops also host special shopping events, including the popular $5 Bin Sale. The next sale is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, 2026, when every item in designated bins will be priced at just $5.

Additionally, Covet’s business practices reflect a commitment to more sustainable and ethical fashion; the company does not carry real fur or exotic skins and supports humanitarian causes and animal welfare.

The Harvard Square shop is currently projected to open around January 2027, Hamzeh said, although the timeline may shift as construction progresses. For opening updates, sneak peeks of the new space, and a look at the latest secondhand finds, follow Covet on Instagram at @covetboston.
