A contemporary New York City womenswear label known for its bold, feminine designs will soon open its first Massachusetts storefront.

GUIZIO is preparing to take over the former Sunglass Hut space at 335 Newbury Street in Boston’s Back Bay, according to a recent Instagram update from Bret Clancy. A LinkedIn post from local real estate investment firm AGEM Property confirms the news.

“AGEM is excited to announce that we have signed GUIZIO to 335 Newbury Street!” the firm shared. “We’re thrilled to bring the globally recognized fashion brand to Newbury Street and continue the evolution of one of the country’s premier shopping corridors.”

Founded in 2014 by designer Danielle Guizio, GUIZIO has built a name for itself with fashion that’s equal parts sultry, rebellious, and distinctly New York. The brand currently operates three brick-and-mortar storefronts in New York, California, and Florida.

GUIZIO’s ready-to-wear collection is designed for the modern woman looking to step outside the lines, pairing feminine silhouettes with an unmistakably edgy sensibility. Woven knits, structured suiting, and the brand’s signature corsets are reworked with asymmetrical details, purposeful cutouts, ruching, and custom hardware.

“Capturing the essence of subversive sensuality and boldness, [Danielle Guizio] is inspired above all to empower the wearer and celebrate the female form,” states the brand’s website. “Finding continuous inspiration through the subcultures of New York, the self-taught designer’s approach to womenswear reflects the spirit of this culture while signaling to the socio-political climate through the lens of the designer as a woman.”

That distinctive aesthetic has earned GUIZIO a high-profile following, with pieces worn by celebrities including the Hadids, the Kardashian-Jenners, Rosalia, Lady Gaga, and members of BLACKPINK. The brand has also made appearances on Euphoria and collaborated with major names including Reebok, Levi’s, Champion, and Puma.

An official opening date for GUIZIO’s upcoming Back Bay location has not yet been announced. What Now Boston has reached out to the team for additional details and will share updates as they become available.
