About the Spoleto Festival
Founded in the year 1977, the Spoleto Festival (named after the Italian city) was started by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Gian Carlo Menotti. He established the festival as a counterpart to the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy. Now, years later, the festival has reached new heights of its own, becoming a major performing arts festival in America. As its popularity continues to grow, the festival is eagerly looked forward to by fans of performing arts and more.
