Something refreshing is coming to Summerville.
Tropical Smoothie Cafe is planned for 1525 Old Trolley Road at the Trolley Square Shopping Center, according to construction documents. The space would be about 1,780 square feet and include seating for 30 people.
The operator of the new Summerville location is Jon Parkman, a multi-unit Tropical Smoothie Cafe franchisee. Parkman told What Now Charleston they are aiming to open the store by April 2025.
Tropical Smoothie Cafe was founded in 1997 and now has locations across the U.S. The company reached its 1,500th location in November 2024 with a store in Cumming, Georgia. In addition to smoothies and bowls, the menu includes savory items like wraps, flatbreads, sandwiches, salads and more. New York City-based Blackstone Inc. bought the fast-casual chain in spring 2024.
There is an existing Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Summerville located at Nexton Square.
