An existing Chick-Fil-A restaurant on Savannah Highway will be getting an overhaul, according to documents submitted to the City of Charleston.

Permits were filed this week for the renovation of the West Ashley fast food restaurant, which is located across from Stono Park Plaza, between Lex Tech Automotive and the Indigo Village Shopping Center.

According to those documents, the owner’s plans to remodel the 4,596-square-foot restaurant include adding 600 square feet to its footprint, improving the kitchen, and the addition of an additional full drive-through lane. These plans will require the acquisition of an additional .03 acres of land on the western side of the building, as well as the relocation of a waste storage building and power pole on the property.

Opened in 2009, the location is owned and operated by Trey Campbell, who also operates Citadel and Northwoods Mall locations. The Savannah Highway restaurant currently has two drive-through entry lanes which combine to one lane on the western side of the building. The addition would mean that the restaurant will now have three entry lanes that merge to two.

Chick-Fil-A is currently building another new location in West Ashley. It is not yet clear how the renovations will impact the service of the Savannah Highway location.
