A local Johns Island craft liquor store, Equal Parts Fine Spirits & Bottle Shop, may be seeking to expand its services into bar and food service.

A zoning application was filed with the county last week seeking permission to operate a “restaurant and wine bar with food and alcohol” called Porron at 3297 Maybank Highway Suite 302. That’s where Equal Parts has been operating its boutique high-end spirits store since March 2022. Owner Roderick Groetzinger confirmed that they are pursuing the zoning change.

No further details were available about the concept, or how it would change the offering of Equal Parts, if at all. The bottle shop has been popular with local home bartenders for its unique spirits offerings, tasting bar, and welcoming community environment. It currently shares a building with bar and restaurant The Natural in the St. John’s Square shopping center.
