Smashley’s Burger Bar will be opening its first brick-and-mortar restaurant off Dorchester Road near Ashley Phosphate by the end of January. The smash burger joint is owned by Victor and Ashley Valdivieso, the brains and married couple behind the wildly successful Victor’s Lab food truck.
The menu will have a variety of all-beef smash burgers like the O.G. (AKA THE Smashley’s with caramelized onions, house-made burger sauce and cheddar cheese from Victor’s Lab food truck), plus new options like the Righteous Brother (all-American), the Bleu Corvette (with blue cheese, tomato jam, truffle burger sauce and smoked bacon), and the Hey Zeus! (for the Greek food lovers). Smashley’s will also offer an Asian pepper spicy crispy chicken sandwich, a vegetarian burger made with a cauliflower patty, rice bowls, a smattering of starters, and a rotating selection of local beers, seltzers and ciders.
Co-owner Ashley Valdivieso told What Now Charleston that patrons will order at the counter and receive a pager to notify them when their food is ready.
“While the restaurant gives a feel reminiscent of 1980s classic Cocktail, and a little tongue-in-cheek humor with its giant burgers eating fleeing humans through the Holy City, its smash burgers and bowls is what will keep your tastebuds telling you to come back,” a press release provided by Smashley’s stated.
“We are trying to be a family friendly restaurant, and there are a lot of people in the neighborhood that we think would make great patrons. Our food truck has a huge following, we’ve even been voted one of the best burgers in town. When it comes to cooking, my husband is an artist, it’s his life,” Valdivieso said.
Smashley’s will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
