The owners of Yummy Hibachi & Sushi Bar and the House of Tang are opening a new concept in the Beaufort Town Center focused on fried chicken, bubble tea and hibachi to-go. According to owner Dan Lin, Chick ‘N Boba is slated to open within a month-and-a-half.

The new restaurant will serve a variety of fried chicken including wings, boneless wings and drumsticks with sauces like honey, buffalo, BBQ and honey mustard. But this won’t be your average run of the mill Southern fried chicken. Chick ‘N Boba’s Asian-style fried chicken has a longer marination time, is super crispy and flavored with marinades and spices like ginger, nutmeg, chili sauce and soy sauce.

On the boba side, patrons will be able to choose from different bubble tea flavors like black sugar, taro, strawberry and mango, which can be topped with their choice of flavored “boba” (or “pearls”). Traditionally, boba is made with tapioca, but other toppings for bubble tea include popping boba, grass jelly, fruit jelly, red bean and more – the combinations are endless.

A report by Explore Beaufort indicated that the new space will not have hibachi grills and chefs, but will offer carry out hibachi options like steak, chicken and shrimp. The restaurant’s main focus will take after its namesake, chicken and boba.

Hours of operation will be 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and closed on Tuesdays.
