Two local spirit companies are teaming up to bring a distillery to James Island.

Virgil Kaine, a small-batch whiskey company, and Cannon Distillery, which offers a variety of products, including vodka, bourbon and rum, are partnering on the new space, the Charleston Regional Business Journal reports.

The distillery will be located in a building at 1734 Signal Point Road, featuring an event space, catering services, a tasting room and a retail shop.

The partnership is part of the companies’ mission to expand further across South Carolina and into Georgia.

Cannon Distillery was founded by Kris Kincaid, Lewis Dodson and Jessica Krofta in 2017. Virgil Kaine was founded by chefs David Szlam and Ryan Meany.
