Founded in 2002 as a kiosk in Charleston’s Citadel Mall, Palmetto Moon got its start offering “fan apparel from local universities and South Carolina state products.”

“Since then,” says the store’s website, “we have rapidly grown into a one-stop shop for women’s and men’s fashion, kid’s apparel and gifts, home goods, shoes, accessories, collegiate gear, drinkware, and more for the Southern at heart.”

Meanwhile, the brand has also grown to encompass nearly 60 stores, and as Palmetto Moon looks forward to its 25th birthday next year, it’s preparing to open a new store in its Charleston hometown, at 360 King St.

“The opening time is going to be late fall of this year, pre-holiday,” Chief Financial Officer Bernard Powers told What Now on Tuesday. “This location is going to have a true downtown Charleston historic character, retaining many of the historic elements of the building.”

Powers describes the opening as a kind of “full circle” moment. “We’re excited the right space finally came available.”

“Palmetto Moon is a fun, energetic company with a relentless focus on customer service,” the website continues. “Since the beginning, Palmetto Moon has been passionate about its customers and the brands we offer. We invite you to shop our wide selection of top lifestyle brands and locally-inspired items that celebrate outdoor living and homegrown roots. Find favorite brands like YETI, Simply Southern, Vineyard Vines, Local Boy Outfitters, Southern Marsh, Birkenstock, Stanley, Hey Dude, Old Row, Bogg Bag, Chubbies, FP Movement, Rainbow, KanCan, Pura Vida, Teleties & many more!”
