Dairi-O is planning a new location in Sanford at 127 Marketplace Drive, just off Highway 1, Chief Operations Officer Rusty LaRue confirmed to WhatNow Charlotte.
The company is currently targeting a fall 2026 opening, pending construction progress and permitting timelines.
According to reporting by Triangle Business Journal, Dairi-O recently purchased the roughly 1.78-acre property for $2 million. The site sits next to a CVS pharmacy, with a 300-unit apartment complex by Dominion Realty Partners also under development nearby.
“We’re excited about the Sanford project,” LaRue said. “The community can expect a location very similar to our newest restaurant in Harrisburg.”
The Harrisburg restaurant, which, according to previous WhatNow Charlotte reporting, marked Dairi-O’s 13th location, spans roughly 5,000 square feet and includes dine-in seating alongside drive-thru service.
The upcoming restaurant will feature Dairi-O’s full menu, along with a double drive-thru and a family-friendly setting.
LaRue added that the company remains focused on “quality, made-to-order food” as it continues expanding into new communities.
Dairi-O traces its roots back to 1947, drawing inspiration from classic roadside American hot dog stands, according to the company’s website. Over the decades, the concept has expanded its offerings while maintaining a focus on fresh preparation and quality ingredients.
Today, the menu includes hand-pressed beef burgers, 100% beef hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, and frozen treats. The concept is also known for offerings such as milkshakes, sundaes, floats, and other frozen treats that nod to the brand’s longstanding roadside diner-style roots.
The planned restaurant marks another addition to Dairi-O’s growing footprint across the region as the company continues expanding its longtime fast-food concept into new communities.
