Danny’s Cafe is preparing to relocate from downtown Burlington to a larger home at 2461 S. Church Street. Co-owner Tyler Lackey confirmed to WhatNow Charlotte that the family-owned business is currently targeting an August 1 opening at the new location.
The restaurant currently operates at 110 W. Front Street. According to the Triad Business Journal, the move will bring the restaurant, catering operation, and event services together in a 7,000-square-foot building formerly occupied by Michelle’s Kitchen & Table.
Founded in 2004 by Danny and Sherry Morton, Danny’s Cafe expanded in 2007 with the acquisition of Huey’s Catering, according to the Triad Business Journal. The two businesses were later combined under the Danny’s Cafe and Catering name. In 2023, ownership transitioned to the founders’ daughter, Makayla Lackey, and her husband, Tyler Lackey.
The couple continued growing the business in 2024 with the opening of a dedicated Huey’s Catering facility, the Triad Business Journal reports. The upcoming move will reunite the restaurant, catering, and event operations at a single address.
“This move represents the realization of a vision we’ve been working toward for many years,” Makayla Lackey told the Triad Business Journal. “Bringing our restaurant, catering and event operations together in one location allows us to better serve our guests while creating opportunities for future growth.”
The new location will include a private event space alongside the restaurant and catering operations. Guests can also expect new offerings, including a juice bar, coffee bar and mocktail menu, in addition to breakfast, lunch and dinner service.
The publication also reports that the business expects to employ approximately 35 full-time and part-time team members at the new location.
As preparations continue, Danny’s Cafe is looking forward to welcoming customers to its new South Church Street home later this summer.
