Fenwick’s opened its doors in 1984 at 511 Providence Road in Myers Park. After bringing classic American cuisine to customers for 40 years, owner Don Rabb — who opened the spot with his late wife Catherine — announced in January that he would be closing the restaurant to enter retirement.

“As I prepare to retire, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we have had together. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of our community. To every guest who walked through our doors, thank you for choosing us. To our loyal patrons who returned time and again, you became like family. To our dedicated staff, past and present, your hard work and passion brought our vision to life,” Rabb wrote in a Facebook announcement earlier this year. “While this chapter is coming to a close, the memories we’ve created together will remain in our hearts forever.”

As planned, Fenwick’s closed in late March. However, the local favorite will not remain closed forever. Tommi Harris, who has experience on the local restaurant scene at spots like Primo and the now-closed Mickey & Mooch, will be taking over the spot, with plans to revive the restaurant.

Harris plans to keep Fenwick’s as close to the original as possible and carry on the Rabb family’s legacy, according to the Charlotte Observer. Customers can expect the usual menu, featuring items like sandwiches and salads.

What Now Charlotte connected briefly with Harris, who is planning to reopen the spot soon. Though she is still waiting on some inspections, she is targeting a late April reopening.
