Charlotte-based wellness concept Mood House is preparing for its next phase of growth, with plans to open new studios in South Charlotte and the Lake Norman area, CEO and co-owner Lizzy Sirkin told WhatNow Charlotte.
Founded by Cristina Wilson in 2021, Mood House currently operates studios in Dilworth and Oakhurst. According to the Charlotte Business Journal, the company has experienced strong recent growth, with its existing locations operating at approximately 90 percent capacity while serving more than 2,200 members.
Sirkin said the company’s immediate focus is on strengthening its footprint across the Charlotte region before pursuing opportunities elsewhere in the Southeast.
“We’re looking at South Charlotte and the Lake Norman area for locations three and four first, and then we’re going to turn our heads to looking more broadly at the Southeast,” Sirkin told WhatNow Charlotte. “Strategy-wise, we’re looking to own our backyard, making sure we’re accessible from all the way north to all the way south of Charlotte before looking outside the market.”
Designed to make regular self-care more accessible, Mood House offers membership-based massage services with straightforward pricing rather than a traditional luxury spa model.
“Mood House was created to give folks a way to create time for themselves in a really intentional and meaningful way,” Sirkin said. “We want people to be able to build that time into their schedule month after month, and we want it to be relatively attainable.”
The concept’s signature 50-minute massage remains its most popular service, but Sirkin said Mood House’s biggest differentiator is its people.
“We’re really known for having amazing massage therapists on staff,” she said. “We try to be the best place that a massage therapist can work, and because of that, people can expect a really high-quality experience.”
In addition to its massage offerings, each studio features a curated retail selection, including Mood House’s signature aromatherapy candles inspired by its four wellness “moods,” allowing guests to continue the experience at home.
While the exact sites have not yet been disclosed, Sirkin confirmed the expansion plans are actively underway. The company is targeting South Charlotte and the Lake Norman area for its third and fourth studios, with the goal of opening its next location within the next 18 months, although construction timelines will ultimately determine the schedule.
