A new development project could lead to the closure of Niles’ historic White Eagle Banquets venue. Given its 60-year history, the venue’s potential closure is garnering significant attention. Once the new project kicks off in the village, residents can find new housing units and commercial spaces.
Highlights
- White Eagle Banquets will be redeveloped into a residential complex at Milwaukee Ave.
- The Niles-based redevelopment project will be spread over an area of about 7 acres.
- Noah Properties, which is the developer of the project, will present its project plan to the Village Board of Trustees on May 27.
White Eagle Banquets Set to be Replaced by a New Residential Complex
Covering about 7 acres, the new development in Niles aims to introduce a residential complex. The new property will make way at 6839 N. Milwaukee Ave. by replacing a beloved venue from the 60s, White Eagle Banquets. Niles’ residents can also expect to get a new restaurant through the project.
The redevelopment initiative in the Illinois village will further include an office building at 6759-77 N. Milwaukee Ave. This property is currently located to the south of White Eagle Banquets and its parking lot.
Amenities through the Latest Niles Project
The Niles redevelopment project at the site of White Eagle Banquet will offer locals a multi-family residential neighborhood. Through this, residents will get housing units out of apartments and townhouses.
Residents can look forward to rooftop terraces, a restaurant, and an outdoor pool among the amenities. Parking will be provided via a combination of spaces within the building and surface lots.
Community Meetings and Concept Review
On April 15, the Village of Niles conducted a community meeting regarding the redevelopment project. Additionally, Noah Properties, which is the project developer, is prepping for a ‘concept review’ presentation. It will share the details with the Village Board of Trustees on May 27.
The upcoming May 27 meeting is expected to shed light on the redevelopment plans for White Eagle Banquets, according to a village spokesperson.
The entire process would be in line with the South Milwaukee Corridor Plan and the Comprehensive Plan 2040.
Looking Back at the History of White Eagle Banquets
Founded by the Przybylo family in post-World War II Chicago, the banquet company has a rich history. White Eagle Banquets was then moved to Niles during the 60s.
Victoria Venues took over the location in 2015. As of now, with a 1,500 capacity, the convention center and banquet hall stay open.
The latest redevelopment proposal of the White Eagle Banquets promises a substantial transformation in the real estate landscape of Niles. Although it might end the decades-long legacy of a beloved local landmark, residents of the Village of Niles can access urban-scale offerings.
