According to a recent permit filing, Vito’s Vault will soon open its doors in Jefferson Park, located at 5901 W Lawrence Avenue.
“Depending on permit filing processes, I plan to have Vito’s open to the public on Valentine’s Day,” owner Mark Alan Virkler told What Now Chicago.
“Vito’s will be a dinner theatre venue, with 1920’s speakeasy-style set during Prohibition. When you come in, you will be greeted by a guy with a Tommy gun, and you will have to have a password to get in. Once you get past him, there will be a vault door to walk through into the venue.”
“We will have a basic menu for our days where we are also hosting performances, where menu options will be steak, chicken, pasta, and maybe a fish option. When we aren’t having a show, the venue will be having our “dark nights,” where there will be a pub ambiance with traditional pub food such as burgers.”
“We will have an amazing cast of singers, dancers, and musicians. We will also host a 20’s music review. The theater portion will have audience participation incorporated into the shows, where guests will be pulled onto the stage to join our cast. I will be taking on the character of Vito Valentino during the performances.”
“Prior to this, I operated at Tommy’s Gun Garage for many years. Unfortunately, after a few decades, Covid shut us down. Since then, I have been on the hunt for a unique space that has a kitchen, bar, and a stage to hold the space that Vito’s Vault would need. I am very excited to open the doors to the public on this long-awaited project,” Virkler added.
