312 Chicago, the Italian restaurant favored by multiple politicians from City Hall, is getting ready to reopen in the Loop, located at 136 N. LaSalle St.

The Italian staple was forced to close during the COVID-19 pandemic and took its time to reopen. Now, the restaurant is ready to open in phases, with a new head chef in the kitchen, according to Crain Chicago Business. Chef Marcello Florio, trained in Italy, will oversee culinary operations when the restaurant opens in late March, starting with breakfast and lunch. Eventually, the restaurant will reintroduce dinner service in April, followed by brunch later in the year. 312 Chicago also plans to reopen the sidewalk cafe at some point.

The change in staff isn’t the only thing new about the restaurant. 312 Chicago has also undergone several renovations during its closure, including new furniture, lighting, and carpets, hoping to make the space overall “brighter.” When the restaurant reopens, customers can expect a similar menu to what was offered before the pandemic. Owners believe 312 Chicago will remain a popular option once it reopens, especially for guests from the connecting Allegro, nearby Cadillac Theater attendees, and City Hall politicians.

“312 Chicago stands out as one of the city’s favorite Italian restaurants, 25 years and running,” according to the company’s website. “Our inviting atmosphere, extensive wine and cocktail program, and authentic Italian cuisine come together to create memorable meals in a convivial environment. Adjacent to The Allegro Royal Sonesta Hotel in Chicago’s theater district, our bustling restaurant and bar showcase innovative takes on Italian classics as devised by Chef Marcello Florio.”
