The former location of Pub 222 in downtown St. Charles is slated to become the new home of Whiskey Bend, an American gastropub. First reported by the Kane County Chronicle, a liquor license and 1 a.m. late-night operations permit were approved for the new establishment on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at a St. Charles City Council meeting.

Whiskey Bend will be run by 222 Hospitality, which also has taken over ownership of The Office, another gastropub at 201 East Main Street. One of the partners of 222 Hospitality is St. Charles restauranteur Colm Headley, who was behind McNalley’s Irish Pub & Kitchen and the now-closed The Beehive Tavern & Grille.

Whiskey Bend’s menu will include small plates and “upscale drinks,” the license application said. According to The Chronicle, details include typical gastropub eats like chicken wings and fish and chips as well as crab cakes, pot roast, fish pie, burgers and sandwiches.
