According to an article from HP Herald, a new wine bar concept aims to take over the former BMO Harris Bank location at 5493 S Cornell Avenue.

“The location’s new tenant, Steven Lucy, said he’s in the final lease negotiations with the building’s landlord, Mac Properties, and plans to open the wine bar in the storefront sometime in the summer or fall of next year.”

“Lucy, who also owns Open Produce directly across the street, 57th Street Wines and Cornell Florist, told the Herald that Hyde Park is “starved for places to hang out” at night.”

“Though his background and interest is in wine, Lucy said the bar will also serve cocktails, beer, non-alcoholic beverages and some snack foods. After a while, the spot may also open during the day as a cafe.”

“The location, he noted, is relatively large with south-facing windows, a patio to the west, and a grassy yard behind the building, providing ample space for outdoor seating. He’s planning an extensive renovation on the inside to make it “light and airy during the day,” and “cozy at night and in the winter.” He added there are plans to turn some of the space into a separate room that can be rented out for events.”
