Alter Brewing, the Chicago suburbs brewery known for its taproom in Downers Grove and its kitchen and brewery in St. Charles is planning a third location in Oak Brook. The Oak Brook Brewery + Kitchen, like the St. Charles location, will offer Alter’s core year round brews and bites, as well as a series of artisanal beers crafted in the brewery’s new solera system.
“Alter Brewing + Kitchen’s concept includes the theater of brewing and in Oak Brook will feature a solera system which is a series of wood aging vessels (foeders) that produces mixed, blended sours and fruited beers,” explained President Ken Henricks in an email to What Now Chicago, “This type of system is rare in the craft brewing industry and we’re really excited with the offerings this system will yield.”
The Oak Brook location is headed to 1175 22nd St. In addition to the fruit-forward and sour beers produced in-house, Alter Brewing + Kitchen will offer the company’s “Altered Comfort” cuisine as well as a wine program and spirits from craft distillers. You can also expect to enjoy a rotating menu of the innovative beers Alter brews in its smaller St. Charles brew system.
Some of the bites found on the St. Charles’ kitchen menu include pork belly porchetta, fried burrata, burgers, salads, and even a grilled pork porterhouse.
Henricks says he expects Alter Brewing + Kitchen Oak Brook to open in fall of 2022. Check out the brewery on social media if you haven’t already.
