A new upscale Italian steakhouse called Amalfi Steak House is making its debut in Elk Grove Village, located at 1180 W. Devon Ave.

The new 7,500-square-foot restaurant will move into the former home of Jimmy’s Charhouse, which closed in November 2019. Elk Grove Village is giving father/son duo Tom and Bob Cirrincione $450,000 in tax increment financing dollars to help remodel a shuttered eatery and reopen it as Amalfi Steak House. The co-owners will use the money to install a movable divider to separate the space for private parties plus the removal of a second level within the restaurant, according to The Daily Herald. The new steakhouse is opening by October 15.

The former Jimmy’s Charhouse building isn’t the only business getting renovations in the Belvedere Plaza. Construction crews will also redo the facade of the 10,827-square-foot shopping center that includes Real Time Sports Bar and Grill and Belvedere Events & Banquets, which the Cirrincione’s also own. Conceptual plans were submitted to the village and included as part of the redevelopment agreement, but full plans are due by May 31.

“The village needs that kind of restaurant,” said Mayor Craig Johnson, who added that the eatery wouldn’t be as upscale as a Gibson’s or Morton’s, for instance, but be ‘village upscale.’

According to a draft menu and price points approved by village officials, guests can expect steaks averaging $30 and Italian entrees in the $15-20 range. The new restaurant will have to compete with RoccoVino’s Italian and Marino’s Wood Fire Pizza for the plaza’s best Italian. Luckily this will be the only steakhouse in the area. Amalfi Steak House is named after the famous coast in Italy, and is not to be confused with Bobby Flay’s Las Vegas restaurant also called Amalfi.
