A coffee shop that has been in the North Side since 2022 is coming to the neighborhood just west of downtown.
Ancient Grounds Coffee is continuing expansion with a new West Loop location at 1050 W Van Buren Street. This follows the recent opening of their Jefferson Park shop in November. Co-owner James Brott told What Now Chicago they are hoping to open by the end of this month or early February.
The coffee company was started by business partners Brott, Paul Garyait and Joseph Sledge in 2022. Starting out at 1022 W Belmont Avenue, they have seen success and then debuted at 5242 N Elston Avenue this past year. They are known for unique creations like “cereal lattes” featuring flavors like Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Honey Nut Cheerios.
“We’re all about thoughtfully crafted blends, inviting aromas, and bold flavors that leave a lasting impression–and hopefully a smile,” says the description on their website.
Online, the owners are listing the new West Loop Cafe as their Flagship location. It will be two blocks from the Target on W Van Buren Street. Not many restaurants and shops are in this area of the neighborhood, but Ground Up Coffee & Bites is about three blocks from the new shop.
The West Loop menu has not yet been released online, but it is expected to be very similar to their Lakeview and Jefferson Park shops. What Now Chicago has reached out to the other owners for more information, and this article may be updated.
