According to a recent article from the Chicago Eater, Brasero will soon open with John Manion at the helm, located at 1709 W. Chicago Avenue.

A representative of Brasero was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Chicago’s request.

According to the previous article mentioned, Brasero will likely open sometime in late November or early December. Before John Manion earned acclaim for El Che, what is described as his renowned West Loop establishment, he carved out a culinary niche with a Spanish restaurant in Wicker Park, affectionately known as Mas.

As time passed and Division Street underwent its transformation, the era of Mas gradually faded into memory. However, for those seeking a taste of that same exhilaration, a visit to Chicago Avenue, just a few blocks south, promises a familiar thrill.

Recently, the West Town neighborhood saw the closure of Funkenhausen, a German-Southern fusion restaurant. This closure left a vacancy, paving the way for the “prodigal son” to make his triumphant return to the area, according to the Eater.

El Che Steakhouse & Bar is described as a testament to the passion and artistry of Executive Chef/Partner John Manion. Here, amidst the bustling food scene, Manion is said to pay homage to Argentina’s cherished tradition of asados—those quintessential backyard barbecues that celebrate the rustic charm of grilled meat, according to the company website.
