A private supper club will soon offer a second place to dine and enjoy coffee.
Gold Coast’s Astor Club is debuting a second location at the historic Blair Mansion, 1516 N Lake Shore Drive, this year. This is to differ from their current supper club as it will be open all day for coffee in the morning, and dinner with events in the evening like live shows. Co-owner Adam Bilter told What Now Chicago he is hoping to debut the new location this August, but are realistically looking at sometime this fall.
“Astor Club is a dual-location, private, invitation only sanctuary in the heart of Chicago, where timeless elegance, cultural sophistication and Michelin-starred culinary artistry converge within two unique and meticulously restored landmarked trophy locations,” says the description on their website.
Astor Cub is the brain child of locals Adam and Victoria Bilter. What Now Chicago previously covered the first Astor Club opening in 2023 in Gold Coast. This is at the Astor Tower which once housed Maxim’s, a famous restaurant, which served many celebrities when it was operating, including Frank Sinatra, The Beatles and Audrey Hepburn.
The current location is inside the John Wellborn Root House at 23 E Goethe Street in Gold Coast. It offers specialty entrees like beef wellington and seafood assortments from their Michelin-recommended restaurant The Chef’s Table, along with many wine options from across the world. Originally, the team was going to open the restaurant in 2020, but due to the pandemic the deal fell through.
“It came full circle,” Adam said.
The Blair Mansion sits near the intersection of E Burton Place, and is just south of Lincoln Park. Right next to the mansion is the International Museum of Surgical Science. Work is being done inside to prepare for the opening like electrical and plumbing, but the building and interior are mostly done.
“The new location will be very complimentary,” Adam said.
