Bar Trullo is a project that will soon be introduced to the Glenview community following long construction.
Owner Nick Philippas is getting ready to open his neighborhood Italian restaurant at 1148 Waukegan Road. It was previously reported by What Now Chicago that the space would be called The Filling Station and would be opening in spring 2024. Now, it will be opening around mid-to-late August in the village.
Philippas is also a managing partner at North Branch Pizza & Burger Co. at 4520 W Lake Avenue, as well as Joe Donut at 1025 Lehigh Avenue, both in Glenview. The new restaurant was previously called The Filling Station because it was a nod to the old gas station where the establishment is being built.
The menu has not yet been released, but guests can expect typical Italian cuisine. There will also be a full bar inside, hence the name. The hours of operation have also not been announced.
“It’ll be homemade and family friendly,” Philippas told What Now Chicago.
In July 2023, the project was approved in the form of a 10-year, $550,000 loan from trustees, according to an article from Journals & Topics Media Group. Philippas was originally looking at a Memorial Day weekend opening, but this was delayed due to construction. As of June 19, construction was happening for the inside of the building.
