A brand new dispensary from Botavi Wellness is looking to make its debut in Lincoln Square, located at 2301 W. Lawrence Ave.
This will be the first dispensary for Botavi Wellness and is expected to open in about six or seven months, according to Block Club Chicago. Owners of Botavi Wellness are partnering with Justice Cannabis, which has more than ten dispensaries in eight states, to open sometime towards the end of the year. City Council recently signed off on a key zoning change for this 6,585-square-foot dispensary, which will eventually move into the former home of Core Power Yoga.
This is a massive accomplishment for Jonathan Loevy, one of the principals for Botavi, who helped launch Justice Cannabis in 2014 along with Mitchell Zaveduk, also a Botavi principal. The two were lucky enough to be included as one of the companies conditionally approved for a state cannabis license after the lottery in August.
“This is going to be one of our flagship dispensaries in Chicago. This will be our biggest dispensary, by size, in the city of Chicago,” said Zaveduk, who is also Justice Cannabis Company’s national director of Real Estate and Existing Property.
Unfortunately, the company has to wait until the resolution of a lawsuit challenging the fairness of the state’s process to distribute cannabis licenses. The next step for the dispensary is to obtain a special use permit from the Zoning Board of Appeals.
