An Evanston coffee shop close to Evanston’s CTA station is entering a new chapter.
Evanston Roundtable recently reported on Coffee Lab Evanston at 910 Noyes Street rebranding to Josie’s Coffee this October. This will be named after co-owner Josie Langevin. Right now, the shop is set to open sometime in mid-October.
This will be the newest project from Coffee Lab owners Langevin and Luke Cason, who also operate the Lakeview location at 2823 N Lincoln Avenue. The shop was started in 2010 by Garret-Evangelical Theological Seminary to be a nonprofit. It has gone through a number of owners over the years.
According to the Evanston Roundtable article, Langevin and Cason recently received keys for the new Evanston space. Renovations need to happen including for the bar, floors, walls and ceilings. Hiring is also going to be starting soon.
The menu is expected to be similar to the Lakeview location, with some original brews. There will also be pastries served from Defloured gluten-free bakery. Coffee Lab currently sells pastries from Defloured, as well as pHlour Bakery and Cafe.
The new Josie’s Coffee spot will be right next to Evanston’s CTA Red Line station and to the left of Tomate Fresh Kitchen Mexican restaurant. It is in a strategic position for those who are arriving or departing from the city using the train. As of now, Coffee Lab Evanston is listed as closed.
