The team behind a popular Arlington Heights café is planning to open a new concept.
CoCo & Maple is moving forward in Mount Prospect at 130 E Northwest Highway, The Daily Herald reports. It will be located in a commercial space at the HQ Residences luxury apartment complex, with a nine-seat bar, indoor seating and lounge spaces, and an outdoor patio.
The restaurant comes from husband-and-wife duo Michael and Denise Brown and their son Nate. They are the team behind CoCo & Blu, a coffee shop located at 12 S Dunton Avenue. The shop opened in 2019, serving coffee and cocktails, plus food items like sandwiches, soups, salads and quiche. CoCo & Blu aims to be an “extension of your family room,” providing visitors with a place to relax and socialize. They also own The Eiffel Flower, a floral shop in Arlington Heights.
The name of the new venture is an ode to its proximity to S. Maple Street. (The neighborhood could also get a nod in the menu; a maple pecan latte could be served.) In addition to the food and beverage offerings, the shop also plans to sell plants.
Mount Prospect trustees recently approved a $250,000 redevelopment agreement with the owners to help complete the project, according to Journal & Topics Media Group.
Mount Prospect Mayor Paul Hoefert described the upcoming café as the “15th eating opportunity in downtown Mount Prospect,” a development he called “super exciting.”
CoCo & Maple is targeting a summer opening.
