The space of the former DeColores Mexican restaurant which is closed down may be revitalized with an outdoor patio space.

DeColores owner Sergio Reyes recently put in a liquor license application for his former location at 1626 S Halsted Street in Pilsen. This is for an outdoor patio at the space. The name he is applying under is “Dioxa 1896.”

It was previously reported by Crain’s Chicago Business that Sergio Reyes was preparing to open his Pilsen restaurant in December 2024 after being closed four years, but was having issues with the city in identifying a patio spot.

DeColores had a menu for both the front and back of the building, offering brunch, as well as a “party package” menu. For their front menu, there were soups, meats, fish such as salmon, fajitas and chicken dishes. There was also a bar in the restaurant.

For the application, the owner applied for both floors of the space. DeColores utilized both floors when it was open. The timeline of when the new business has not been disclosed, but the application was applied for on June 11.

What Now Chicago has reached out to the owner, and this article may be updated.
