A longtime Texas barbecue market wants to bring a permanent location in Skokie.
Dewey’s BBQ Market recently updated their website that a new location is coming to Chicago. According to the owner Robert Fitzpatrick, it will be at 5013-5017 W Oakton Street in Skokie. The team is planning an opening around Oct. 15.
The new spot is set to be a BBQ brick and mortar/restaurant bringing traditional Texas meats. The location is in the Oakton Street Plaza, right on the border of Niles. Right now, Dewey’s is an online only business.
The history of Dewey’s BBQ Market goes back to 1951 when Fitzpatrick’s father opened a shop in Greenville, Texas. After this, he opened a second location in 1976 in Greenville. Now, the owners are hoping to bring their smoked meats to their first permanent location in Illinois this fall.
“Hickory smoked meats and Southern dessert favorites in the North East Texas tradition since 1951,” says the description on their website.
The team has served street food in the past, such as pulled pork sandwiches and mac and cheese. They have been organizing local barbecues for the community the past few years. Robert told What Now Chicago the goal of new business venture is to “give Lake County and Cook County residents good Texas BBQ.
