A brand new Italian steakhouse called Fioretta, translating to “little flower” will make its debut in Fulton Market, located at 320 N. Sangamon St.

The new steakhouse will feature an atmosphere evocative of a 1950s steakhouse or Italian restaurant, with dim lighting, velvet furnishings, opulent decorations, and piano music, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. Fioretta will have an 8,200-square-foot main dining room, plus room for a chef’s table, bar, and private sections. The 160-seat restaurant will have its kitchen run by Michelin-starred “Top Chef” winner Michael Voltaggio and brother Bryan, who has also competed on the show. This will be the brother’s first restaurant in Chicago.

Fioretta will join Calor Equity Partners and restaurant technology company Tock in the newly opened 13-story building co-developed by New York-based Tishman Speyer and Chicago real estate investor Mark Goodman. DineAmic Hospitality Group, which owns Bar Siena, Barrio, Lyra, and the upcoming Violi, expects to open this new restaurant sometime in 2023. The hospitality group, owned by partners Luke Stoioff and David Rekhson, and the Voltaggio brothers will have to use its Italian charm to compete with Swift & Sons and BLVD Steakhouse.

“Steakhouses are very much meat and side dishes, then you have your starters. We were trying to think of ways to enhance that experience,” Michael Voltaggio told Crain’s. “We had this question: What if the side dishes could be family-style pasta, house-extruded and handmade pasta? You could have both experiences in one location, but also without leaving anyone out.”
