The new concept from the chef of Elia in Wicker Park has a new concept he is preparing to debut in Glencoe.
A new restaurant called Elyon has been showcasing their dishes on social media as of recently. This will be at 667 Vernon Avenue in the village’s downtown area. Owner and chef Ozgur Ozkan told What Now Chicago the new spot will mainly be serving Greek and Italian dishes, and it is set to open Nov. 1.
Ozkan is a local chef who is also involved in projects in Miami. At Elia, 938 W Division Street, he specializes in Mediterranean dishes like mezzes, lentil soup and truffle cheese saganaki. For this location, he will serve dishes from the west side of Greece, some Italian dishes as well as Turkish cuisine.
A local to the Wilmette area, Ozkan wanted to pick up a new venture and found the space through a friend. For this location, he will be both the owner and the main chef.
“We said ‘why not?’” Ozkan told What Now Chicago.
The restaurant is going in the same building as Shanghai Garden, and across the street from Mensch’s Deli. Right now, construction is happening inside the space to prepare for opening. The art inside will be contemporary and themed so Mediterranean dining.
Elia’s social media first teased Elyon on Sept. 8, posted on social media “In the heart of Glencoe, Ozz Chef brings you a new fine dining journey.” Since opening Elia with his business partner Metin Serbest in Wicker Park, he has wanted to introduce a concept closer to home.
