According to an article from the Daily Herald, Fabio Viviani and partner Romeo Kapudija aim to open a new concept at 377 N Rand Road in Lake Zurich.

The space was once home to Fritzl’s Restaurant and Pub, which has been closed since 2021 after being open for over 30 years. Another concept called Station 52 Truck Company Bar & Grill had aimed to debut in the space, but the concept did not pan out and was sold to Fabio and Romeo instead.

“Village staff met with Kapudija and a contractor last week regarding the proposed interior demolition of the property and potential plans to remodel the interior for an Asian-themed restaurant, according to village officials,” the Daily Herald article states.

Another article from the Daily Herald written back in 2021 tells us more about Fritzl’s: “Robert “Bob” Tschurtz and two sons opened the restaurant at Route 12 and North Old Rand Road in 1985. Named after Bob’s father, Fritz, a master meat cutter in Austria, it became a staple for traditional German food and a community gathering place for banquets and other occasions.”

“In their message to customers, the brothers did not say why they decided to close. But Peter Tschurtz said the last 18 months of navigating COVID restrictions and a subsequent lack of staff led to the decision.”
