Not only has Katie Dong won a Guy’s Grocery Games, she’s also worked as the chef and executive manager of Strings Ramen, the eatery ranked top 3 ramen restaurants in Chicago and top 15 in America by multiple magazines. With over 15 years in the hospitality business, she’s experienced to say the very least; she’s also a self-proclaimed “noodle nerd” who “will travel for ramen.” And now she is at work on her own venture, a ramen shop called Monster Ramen Chicago.

“I found my passion in food creation from a very young age, I love it so much I decided to pursue this as my lifetime career,” Dong shares on the eatery’s website. “To me, every ramen creation is a project of its own.  I designed each ramen project with one goal in mind.  That is to bring a little surprise and just a little bit of joy to all my customers one bowl at a time.”

Monster Ramen recently filed an application for a liquor license, as well, so you can look forward to enjoying a refreshing beverage as you indulge in your noodles. The eatery is headed to 3453 West Fullerton Ave, on the corner of W Fullerton and N St. Louis.

We were unable to reach Dong at the time of publication, so you’ll want to check back in for updates on Monster Ramen’s opening plans. And while you might be anxiously awaiting those developments, Monster Ramen suggests you “keep calm and slurp on.”
