After a few short years of serving Northern Indiana through delivery, party planning, events, weddings, and shipping, Half Baked Cookie Co. is getting ready to open its first brick-and-mortar in Crown Point, located at 3 N. Court St.

The company will share the main door hallway with the U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting office, with separate entry for each business. Owner Gertrude Navikas tells What Now Chicago she expects to open the new eatery in a month or two. Navikas bought the building in March and is waiting for the state to take the next steps forward. Before starting the cookie company, she owned a cleaning business that was hurt by the pandemic. It didn’t take long for her cookie business to take off, eventually leading to this upcoming bakery.

“From cookies to cakes, cupcakes, cake pops and just about everything you can imagine, she tried it, and people really, really liked what she did,” according to the company’s website. “As her baked goods became more popular, Half Baked Cookie Co. emerged as a premier home bakery in Crown Point. She introduced the Fattie: a huge cookie filled with just about anything you can imagine. This thing is tasty and big enough to end any case of the munchies!”

On top of serving delicious treats, including custom cakes for any occasion, Half Baked Cookie Co. is also very diet friendly and can recommend an appropriate option based on most dietary restrictions, including keto, low-carb, gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, and vegan. The full-service bakery will also serve poppyseed rolls, crullers, cinnamon rolls, cookies, muffins, and other baked goods.

CORRECTION: A previous version of the article misstated the new restaurant will replace the U.S. Marine Corps Recruiting office when it will instead share a main door hallway, with separate entry for each business.
