A restaurant owner with an Indian establishment that has been in the city for 16 years is getting ready to open his third location.
It was recently reported by Eater Chicago that Vikram Singh will open a new Kama location at 812 W Randolph Street in West Loop. This will be his newest restaurant featuring Indian food with Americana flavors.
Singh told What Now Chicago he is planning on opening his new restaurant by mid-August. He and his team had been looking at the West Loop area for a while, and once a spot opened up they immediately jumped at the opportunity.
“It was some work for us to get it done, but we’re finally there,” Singh said.
What Now Chicago previously reported that Singh was opening a second Kama Bistro location in 2023 at 1560 N Milwaukee Avenue. This followed their first bistro in La Grange. He opened the second spot this with his business partner Agnes Singh inside the former Wynwood Kitchen and Spirits at 1560 N Milwaukee Avenue.
For cuisine, there will be similar dishes from the last two locations, with Indian dishes infused with Americana themes. These include lamb shank vidaloo, their take on a classic dish from Goa in Southwest India, and house-made pasta. For drinks, there will be cocktails similar to the current restaurants with more Indian spices.
During the time of opening, the restaurant will just be focusing on dinner. Once it is later in the process and the location is established, a Saturday and Sunday brunch will be introduced.
“It’s just kind of a natural progression of what we’ve done over 16 years,” Singh said.
