The newest addition to the Chicagoland food scene is ready to introduce an international spin on the Americana staples many have come to know and love.

Krafted Burger Bar + Tap, the globally-inspired burger joint bringing a fresh twist on American classics, hosted a grand opening event to commemorate its first-ever location. The event was held on Thursday, January 19 at The Promenade Bolingbrook mall in Bolingbrook

The public grand opening began at 11:00 a.m. with live music and promotions for guests all throughout the day. The first 50 guests in line received a voucher to redeem one burger or sandwich a month for a whole year, starting in February 2023. Afterwards, a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce began at 4:30 p.m. with Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta.

The concept joins the portfolio of brands co-owned by former Jimmy John’s CEO Gregg Majewski, including legacy brands like BD’s Mongolian Grill, Flat Top Grill and Genghis Grill. Located amongst other high-end eateries and retail stores, the new restaurant features a chef-curated menu from the mind of world-renowned chef and Chicagoland native, Robert Kabakoff. Kabakoff, together with Majewski, created notable menu items including an array of gourmet flat top burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, tavern-style pizzas and salads.

The burgers feature a variety of flavors that include classics like the American and more bold flavors such as the Greektown, with feta cheese, olive relish, pickled red onions, tomato and harissa aioli. Other unique offerings include shareables like tempura-fried cauliflower and twice-fried chicken wings, hand-battered fried chicken sandwiches and wild pizzas like the Cypress Hill – with fried chicken, spicy BBQ, tomato and crispy fried onions. Krafted will also serve brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring their signature Brunch Combo: a crispy pork belly egg sandwich, a shot of Redemption whiskey and a draft beer, all for $16. There are also more than 46 craft beer offerings, as well as a mix of cocktails on tap and wines for a refreshing addition to a savory meal.

“Krafted Burger Bar + Tap is the perfect addition to not only our restaurant portfolio but to The Promenade Bolingbrook. Chef Kabakoff has brought unmatched expertise and dedication to creating a concept that brings together both tried-and-true American flavors with a fresh, international inspiration,” said Majewski in a statement. “I look forward to inviting the community to join our formal celebration and becoming a staple destination for Chicagoland residents.”

Chef Kabakoff founded Krafted Burger Bar + Tap intending to revitalize tried and true American classics with a chef-driven twist minus the pretentious vibe. Many of the names for the menu items take inspiration from the places and people Chef Kabakoff has met during his travels, showcasing the thoughtfulness and variety behind the menu. The Bolingbrook location will be the first introduction of the concept to consumers, with another location planned for Elmhurst, Illinois in early 2023. Additional locations are anticipated throughout the Chicagoland area.
