La Grande Boucherie, a traditional French restaurant and steakhouse that celebrates Joie de Vivre, is making its Chicago debut in River North.

This will be The Group NYC’s fifth location and first in Chicago, expected to open in the second quarter of 2023. The Group will also make its Chicago debut with Olio e Più, opening by year-end, and Omakase Room, opening around the same time as La Grande Boucherie. When the new Chicago location opens, guests can expect French cuisine classics, timeless bistro favorites, and dry-aged steaks, along with an extensive wine list and absinthe-driven signature cocktails.

Emil Stefkov, The Group’s president and founder, tells the Chicago Business Journal these three new restaurants will lead to the hiring of 240 employees. Stefkov chose River North for these restaurants because of its high-foot traffic. Once these three restaurants open, The Group will continue expanding with more restaurants on the way.

“[River North is] a beautiful and safe neighborhood with the right balance of residents, corporate, tourists and hospitality, etc. — we knew our restaurant would make a great addition to the community,” Stefkov tells the Chicago Business Journal. “We anticipate potentially expanding in about two to three years. More to come on that — stay tuned.”
