The owners of a local champagne brand that recently made its debut are planning to open a speakeasy.

Rugby Champagne was co-founded by Karolyn Denson Landrieux and her husband, Pierre Landrieux.

The owners plan to open a speakeasy in Hyde Park in the next year or so, Block Club Chicago reports.

Rugby Champagne has several offerings, including a flagship champagne with notes of fine whiskey, leather and tobacco; Vie en Pink Rosé; a Purple Label champagne; and more. The brand partners with women-owned vineyards. Products can be found online and at A&S Beverages in Hyde Park.

Denson Landrieux is a sommelier, an experienced entrepreneur, and the author of the children’s book series The Adventures of Maxine and Beanie. The family of Pierre Landrieux, a former rugby player, has been producing champagne for generations. Denson Landrieux’s daughter, Amber Elaine Johnson, is the chief operating officer of Rugby Champagne.
