Momentum Coffee, a coffee and coworking space in South Loop and Millenium Park, is getting ready to double down on its number of locations.

The company is set to open two more locations at an unknown time, according to the company’s website. Momentum Coffee will start by opening a third site in Englewood at 1122 W 63rd Street as part of the 4,000-square-foot retail and office hub from E.G. Woode. The coffee shop will join Powell’s Barbershop, Marie|Wesley, and Beehyye within the property. Momentum Coffee’s fourth location will be coming to North Lawndale at 2644 W. Ogden Avenue, near Douglass Park.

Founders Tracy Powell and Nikki Bravo launched the company from Millennium Park at 2115 S. State Street to provide the area with a space to encourage economic empowerment. The two tried this concept in 2017 with Blue Lacuna, a coworking space on Canalport. Two years later and the duo opened the first cafe in South Loop and immediately started to expand. Powell tells What Now Chicago he hopes to open the Englewood site on October 24th, while the North Lawndale location will open in mid-November 2022.

“Before [Momentum], there weren’t any great spaces for people to accelerate their businesses, to start their businesses, or to have programs and meetings in our neighborhoods,” Powell tells Citizen Weekly. “Folks were going outside our neighborhoods to have meetings, and I felt like if we were going to have a viable community, having spaces in those neighborhoods makes sense.”
