The address that was a fast food chain will soon be a more local option.
The Mediterranean bakery and restaurant A Thousand Tales is coming to a second location at 522 W Golf Road, per a report from The Daily Herald. Owner Yavuz Canbolat has been planning expansion for about two years. Canbolat told What Now Chicago he is hoping to open in May or early summer.
The first A Thousand Tales restaurant debuted in 2022 in Mount Prospect at 2340 Elmhurst Road. It is a family owned eatery inspired by flavors of the eastern Mediterranean. While this is a full-service restaurant, the Schaumburg location will only be a bakery and cafe.
The Mount Prospect location is open all day from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., while the bakery and cafe operates from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. Their tales breakfast plate with simit, cheeses, jam, butter and fried sausage is a popular option. Other plates include the simit plate, with melted cheese over the meat with olives, tomatoes and white cheese.
For the new bakery and cafe, their menu will mainly be drinks and pastries, as well as specialty cakes. The options will extend to small plates like protein salads, and soups. Yavuz said everything will be “homemade and tasty.”
A Thousand Tales will be near the major intersection of W Higgins and Golf roads. This is across the street from a Starbucks and Dunkin’ location. Woodfield Mall is just east of the address.
The team will be releasing more information on the opening date on their social media pages including Facebook.
