The Neapolitan-style pizza restaurant is expanding to Yorktown Shopping Center in Lombard.
It was recently reported by The Daily Herald that Gia Mia is coming to 310 Yorktown Shopping Center, taking over former RA Sushi next to new Dave & Busters. This will be the seventh Gia Mia location. The other locations are in Downer’s Grove, Elmhurst, Geneva, Naperville, St. Charles and Wheaton.
This is part of the first phase of a new plaza near the mall called the “Yorktown Reserve.” It links a new luxury apartment project with the commercial area at Yorktown Mall.
“With the addition of this popular west suburban favorite, we’re ensuring the long-term success of Yorktown Center and enriching the local community for generations to come,” said the press release from Yorktown Center.
The first Gia Mia location opened in Wheaton in 2015. It was started by Chef Brian Goewey, who founded BG Hospitality which owns the restaurant. He also owns Harry & Eddie’s in Hinsdale, Livia Italian Eatery in Geneva and Fire+Wine in Glen Ellyn.
The restaurant runs lunch specials for their wood-fired pizzas, including margarita pizzas. On the regular menu there are salads, pastas, salmon, beef and small bites. They serve dessert as well, including tiramisu and ricotta cheesecake.
On their website, the pizza restaurant is now accepting applications for the Lombard location. These include host, server, bartender, cook and dishwasher. According to the mall, it will be opening this summer.
