Three years after the closure of Tuscany in Wheeling, a new Indian concept is taking its place

It is being reported a restaurant called Ahara is coming to 550 S Milwaukee Avenue. The concept comes from Arun and Anu Sharma, who provide a mobile catering service in the area. Anu told What Now Chicago they are hoping to open in six-to-eight months.

From The Daily Herald article, the previous restaurant Tuscany closed in January 2022, and the space will now be fully renovated to fit the owners’ aesthetic. Inside, there will also be a boutique, which should be opening around the same time the restaurant debuts.

Anu told What Now Chicago the team is bringing in a Michelin starred chef from India for the kitchen, and the menu will feature all organic ingredients. Anu is also taking restaurant classes to specialize in creating organic and healthy menu items. At their catering company Mantra, they serve appetizers like karavali prawns, chicken shami kebab, lamb entrees, tandoor and soups and salads.

“It’s traditional fusion food in a modern way,” Anu said.

The building is at the corner of E Manchester Drive and S Milwaukee Avenue, across the street from the Yu’s Mandarin Chinese restaurant. Other establishments nearby include Bob Chinn’s Crab House and Superdawg Drive-In.

There is no social media or website for the business set up yet, but more information on Anu and Arun’s company Mantra, visit their Facebook page.
